Atorvastatin Tablet lowers cholesterol and triglyceride (fat) levels to prevent heart disease, angina (chest pain), stroke and heart attack. Atorvastatin calcium belongs to a class of medicines called HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors (statins). It slows the body’s production of cholesterol. Therefore, It reduces the cholesterol that can build up on artery walls and block blood flow to the heart, brain and other body parts.

Atorvastatin Tablet is used along with diet, weight loss and exercise to reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke and the need for heart surgery in people who have or are at risk of heart disease. In addition, Atorvastatin is also used to lower blood levels of fatty substances such as LDL cholesterol (“bad cholesterol”) and triglycerides and to increase HDL cholesterol. (“good cholesterol”) content in the blood.

Direction For Use

Your doctor or health specialist will prescribe its exact dose and duration. However, read the instructions carefully mentioned on its label. Do not crush, chew, or break as it needs to be swallowed as a whole with a glass of water.  

Storage Condition

Store it in a cool and dry place. Moreover, Keep it far from the sunlight rays and your children’s reach. 

Side Effects Of Atorvastatin Tablets

There are some minor and major effects of Atorvastatin Tablets. Generally, minor side effects do not need any medical attention as they disappear after some time when your body gets adjusted to the medicine. However, if you observe any side effects for a long time or observe any major side effects that may bother you then immediately consult with your doctor. 

Minor Side Effects

• Joint pain
• Diarrhea
• Runny or stuffy nose 
• Sore throat
• Muscle spasms and pain
• Upset stomach
• Pain in arms and legs
• Urinary tract infection

Major Side Effects

• Increased Blood Sugar 
• Allergic Reactions
• Liver Damage
• Dark colored urine

Precautions

• Atorvastatin tablets may harm the fetus. Therefore, consult with your health specialist or doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. If you become pregnant, stop taking atorvastatin immediately and contact your doctor. 
• Do not take atorvastatin tablets while breastfeeding. It is not known whether atorvastatin tablets are excreted into your breast milk. Consult with your doctor in case if you are a breastfeeding mother.
• Consumption of alcohol is unsafe while taking atorvastatin tablets. Therefore, it can affect negatively or cause serious side effects in your body. 
• Consult your doctor if you are suffering from any kind of liver disease. Hence, your doctor will prescribe the accurate dose depending on your health condition.
• Dose adjustment is required for patients suffering from kidney disease. Therefore, inform your doctor in case of renal placement, he will prescribe you the exact dosages.  
• Atorvastatin tablets are unsafe for children. However, consult your doctor in case if needed.
